Oman Insurance to go cardless for medical insurance plans from December 1, 2019

In another step towards customer convenience, Oman Insurance has decided to stop printing medical insurance cards for all its healthcare insurance plans from December 1, 2019. The members simply need to present their Emirates ID at eligible network provider locations to access medical care. This has already been in practice for two years and over 25% of the members are utilizing this facility.

In case a member does not have Emirates ID, there is an option to quickly generate and present an eCard from the website, myOIC mobile app or by signing-in to OICare portal.

Commenting on the occasion, Freeda Rego, Head of Customer Operations at Oman Insurance said, “Customers are at the center of everything we do. This initiative will make the process of accessing medical care simpler for our members as they won’t need to wait for the card to receive medical care or carry it with them each time they visit a provider. We will continue with our efforts to improve the experience and satisfaction of our members.”

Members with a physical card expiring after December 1, 2019 can continue using it until the expiry date.

This initiative does not include Oman Insurance and Bupa Global members on international health insurance plans and Oman Insurance local plans administered by Third Party Administrators.
